This site would not have been possible without the generosity of a number of organisations and people.
This project was funded through the generosity of the Institute for New Economic Thinking under a grant entitled, English Agricultural Markets and the State: the Corn Returns. The London Gazette kindly supplied scans of past issues.
This site has been built using WordPress, free open source software for building and managing web sites and blogs. It uses mySql, a free open source database. The interactive map uses the Google Maps api, a free service from Google. The interactive graph uses dygraphs, a free open source JavaScript library. We are very grateful to all the volunteers and corporations who have put so much effort into providing the free software that we have used.
The image in the header is a detail from “The Corn-Exchange” from Ackermann’s The Microcosm of London or London in Miniature obtained from Wikimedia Commons. It is in the public domain in Australia, the European Union, USA and other jurisdictions.
